Viewers can see from watching "Teen Mom 2" that being a teen parent is hard. Jenelle Evans is in an especially difficult situation, partly because substance abuse has taken over so much of her life.
In tonight's season finale of "Teen Mom 2," Jenelle's mom Barbara and Barbara's boyfriend Mike find clear evidence of Jenelle and her BF Kieffer doing heroin. Barbara points out the potential dangers Jenelle's son, three-year-old Jace might face -- not just that his mom wouldn't be able to take care of him, but also the danger of him being around syringes. Jace's grandma decides to talk to the magistrate and see if she can get Jenelle committed, saying it's for her own safety.
Jenelle and Kieffer have a different take. They're angry that Barbara and Mike just walked in on them and Kieffer wants to file charges. Jenelle hasn't seen Jace in weeks and it's getting to her, but she also says that if the alternative means not being with Kieffer, she'll wait to see Jace when she's able to get custody back. However, it's pretty clear she wouldn't be able to get custody in her current condition.

Barbara talks to the magistrate, and police pick up Jenelle briefly so she can have a doctor-given psychological evaluation. Jenelle is deeply upset about this, and in response Kieffer presses charges against Barbara and Mike for coming into their house before. When Barbara learns about the charges, she cries over Jenelle, saying, "I have lost her. She's gone."
