Jamie Foxx's star power continues to rise in the wake of "Django Unchained." The Oscar-winner is currently filming his role as Electro in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx is lining up another high-profile role.
According to the trade, Foxx will play Benjamin Stacks in "Annie" starring Quvenzhané Wallis from "Beasts of the Southern Wild" as the famed comic strip orphan. If you're looking sideways at the name "Benjamin Stack," let us clear up some of the confusion. Stacks is a version of the Daddy Warbucks character from the original comic and the musical. Since the kids aren't as familiar with the concept of "war bucks" these days, an equally unsubtle name has been subbed in.
THR's sources claim that an offer has been made to Foxx, and that negotiations will begin soon, with an eye to start filming later this year for a 2014 release.
