The "Resident Evil" movie series has finally caught up with its source material. The video game "Resident Evil 6" was only just released on October 2, 2012, and it's being reported that Sony Pictures is working on a sixth film as well.
Shock Till You Drop learned that Sony has set a release date for the new movie. It will hit theaters on September 12, 2014, and will seemingly conclude the three-movie story arc that director Paul W.S. Anderson started in the fourth "Resident Evil" movie, "Resident Evil: Afterlife."
Assumedly Anderson will reprise his role as director and his wife/star Milla Jovovich will return as main character Alice. The "Resident Evil" film series wouldn't be able to work without them, and the duo has made a pretty steady income with this franchise since "Resident Evil" came out in 2012. Don't expect "Resident Evil 6" the movie to parallel the game though, as it will almost certainly pick up exactly where "Retribution" left off. The film is expected to go into production in the fall.
