Carly Rae Jepsen is singin' "Call Me Never" to the Boy Scouts of America! She was set to perform at this year's National Boy Scout Jamboree, but withdrew when she learned the organization doesn't support gay rights.

"As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer," she tweeted early this morning. "I always have and always will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level, and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe," she also wrote.

This isn't the first time Carly has spoken up for the gay community. "Acceptance has never been a question to me. I've grown up knowing it's just the way things should be," she told TIME magazine last spring. "I have so many gay friends that I love. It's a regular thing." Her previous statements paired with the boy-on-boy flirtation in her "Call Me Maybe" video (and the fact that "Carly Rae Jepsen" would make a damn good drag name!) made her choice to perform at the Boy Scout Jamboree extremely puzzling to those who follow her closely. We're glad (and so is GLADD) that she's continuing to support equal rights.

A Change.org petition asking Carly and fellow Jamboree headliner Train to speak out or drop out gained over 62,000 signatures over the weekend. Carly's withdrawal came just days after Train announced they would only perform if the Boy Scouts lifts its ban on gay scouts and leaders.
