In tonight's episode of "Made," 21-year-old Maeve goes from tough athlete to beauty pageant winner. But pageants aren't just about evening gowns and swimsuits -- sorry Honey Boo Boo!  All the girls in the pageant stand for a platform they care about, and Maeve's is domestic violence awareness.

At first it's a little unclear why exactly Maeve wants to get in the high heels and do pageants. She mentions that she wants to make her mom proud, and since her mom is fighting cancer, we can see why this matters to Maeve so much. Later on we also learn why Maeve picked domestic violence awareness for her platform, which turns out to be incredibly personal.

Maeve's childhood friend Karissa was a victim of domestic violence, and Karissa's ex-boyfriend is being charged with her murder. "My platform is domestic violence awareness due to losing one of my best childhood friends who was killed this past January," Maeve said at the East Coast USA pageant. "My goal is to be Karissa's voice and spread awareness to local teens in surrounding high schools and colleges so that no family or friends ever have to experience such a horrible loss."

And while you're at it, keep it mind that when people think of domestic abuse they usually think of physical abuse, but that's not the only form of abuse out there. Abusive partners might also go through your email or cell phone without permission, or act very possessively, or try to keep you away from your family and friends. Abusive partners might belittle you or put you down. They might try to pressure you or force you into sexual acts you don't want to do. All these things count as abuse, and they're not okay.

According to Love Is Respect, one-third of adolescents suffer some form of abuse from a partner. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, you need to get out. Sometimes it can be hard to end an abusive relationship, but please know that help is available.
