If you are like me, the countdown to spring break is constantly on my mind -- saying goodbye to the grind of school and hello to a nice relaxing week. Or nice rewarding week for those taking part in mtvU's Spring Fix, a unique opportunity to spend break by volunteering in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.
After the volunteering is said and done, there will be a massive mtvU and United Way benefit concert on March 23 at Six Flags Great Adventures in New Jersey, and Ne-Yo has been announced as the headlining act! Our very own Andrew Jenks and Vinny Guadagnino will also be there lending a hand.
"I feel privileged to be part of an event that not only recognizes young people who are volunteering their time to help people affected by Hurricane Sandy," Ne-Yo revealed, "but that is also continuing to raise awareness of the effect Sandy has had on many communities."
While jetting off to tropical islands is obvi fun, we gotta say rebuilding a devastated area sounds a bit more appealing than sun burns and hangovers, no? Even Linkin Park is in a giving back mood this spring, and has created bracelets with proceeds benefitting Music For Relief's Hurricane Sandy relief in Haiti and the U.S.
