Every day MTV Act celebrates and encourages young activists, but we're not the only ones who know young people can make a difference. The Peace First Prize celebrates peacemaking activists between the ages of 8 and 22, and actress Minka Kelly is sharing the profile of her fave young peacemaker.
"The Butler" actress Tweeted:
Help Eleanor (9) get a fellowship for her animal rescue efforts! Click link & tweet from site! @PeaceFirstOrg http://t.co/dxe1a1yTlL

Eleanor Ann might be only nine, but this elementary school student has created Pennies FUR Pets, which is all about helping companion animals find homes. She started this by collecting pennies and other coins — and in one month she raised an impressive $2,600! She continues to raise money, and to date Pennies FUR Pets has saved more than 3,100 animals. Those pennies under your couch can really add up and make a helpful contribution to the world!
The winners of the Peace First Prize will be announced in October, and Chelsea Clinton, America Ferrera and others will help decide who wins. While waiting for the results, you can check out Eleanor Ann's vid, plus the profiles of the other finalists. Eleanor Ann's work is perf for animal-lovers like Minka, but other young people are involved in other forms of peacemaking, so you might feel a connection to some of the others, as well. Whoever ends up winning, all of these young activists deserve a round of applause. Eleanor Ann explains the importance of young activists well by saying, "Even the smallest person could make the biggest difference." Minka obvi agrees and is as thrilled as everyone else to see these peacemakers in action!
