New York Fashion Week is the talk -- or, should we say "the walk" -- of the town. The fashion shows, the famous spectators, and, of course, the supermodels. But did you know that many of your fave runway walkers are more than just a pretty face?
+ Karlie Kloss Makes Momofukun' Cookies
Supermodels eat cookies too! Karlie Kloss' cookie collabo with NYC bakery Momofuku Milk Bar is one of the most delicious ways to do charity work ever. Proceeds from Karlie's Kookies goes to FEED, an org that provides nutritious meals to people in need. To date sales of the cookies have provided 224,580 meals!
+ Kate Upton Is Stoked
Those young men look pretty stoked to be talking to two-time Sports Illustrated cover model Kate Upton. Probably because she's volunteering with STOKED, an org that brings action sports to inner-city youth. The org aims to keep at-risk youth off the streets and in the skate parks!
+ Kendall Jenner Deletes Digital Drama
Kim Kardashian's lil sis, Kendall Jenner, is a spokesperson for Seventeen's Delete Digital Drama campaign, which encourages young people to rid themselves of online bullies simply by deleting them. Ain't nobody got time for haters! Join the movement by refusing to give negative peeps the time of day.
+ Tyra Banks Promotes Healthy Body Image
Tyra Banks believes every woman's body is a 10, and has devoted much of her time on and off the runway to promoting healthy body image. "Girls of all kinds can be beautiful -- from the thin, plus-sized, short, very tall, ebony to porcelain-skinned; the quirky, clumsy, shy, outgoing and all in between," she once said. "It's not easy though because many people still put beauty into a confining, narrow box ... think outside of the box ... pledge that you will look in the mirror and find the unique beauty in you."
+ Kate Moss Walks For Charity
If you've ever wanted to walk in a supermodel's shoes, now you can! Kate Moss recently created artistic, charitable shoes for Adidas. The iconic beauty, along with a few other celebs like fellow model Naomi Campbell, designed signature kicks for a London exhibition and charity auction to benefit LGBTQ equality org, Stonewall.
+ Adriana Lima Knows The Way
Adriana Lima volunteers in her hometown of Salvador, Brazil, at a children's orphanage named Caminhos da Luz ("Ways Of Light"). She buys clothes for the kids, as well as makes donations to aid in the maintenance expansion of the facility.
+ Miranda Kerr Teaches Yoga
As the global ambassador of Earth Hour 2012, Miranda Kerr offered a free public yoga class to 200 fellow nature (or supermodel) lovers. "My childhood helped me appreciate the environment," she said in a promo vid for the event. "It also made me understand that we depend on the environment as much as the environment depends on us. We are a part of the universal ecosystem and every action we take has a positive or negative consequence to the system as a whole."
+ Cara Delevingne Gets Lippy
Cara Delevingne's infamous lion-on-the-finger tat was done by celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang, who just so happens to be auctioning off the rebellious model's autographed lipstick kiss for charity. Other autographs up for auction include Cara's pal Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
+ Gisele Bundchen Wants To Be With You
Gisele Bundchen is the highest paid model of 2013, and also one of the most giving. The Brazilian beauty recently recorded a charity single to use as the soundtrack to her new H&M campaign. The track, which is a cover of The Kinks' "All Day And All Of The Night" will be available for free download on hm.com and on iTunes starting on September 12. With every download, H&M will make a donation to UNICEF to aid in the purchase of vaccines for children.
+ Joan Smalls Brings The Sunshine
Joan Smalls is a spokesperson for Project Sunshine, an org that brings happiness and relief to children and families living with medical challenges. When asked why she's so passionate about Project Sunshine, she said, "It's all about bringing laughter and quality time to children, and spreading the sunshine to terminally ill or recovering kids."
