When you look at superstars like Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, it's hard to imagine they struggle with a fear of failure or feeling pressure to succeed. In two new interviews, however, both singers sound off on how they toss those thoughts aside in order to do what they love.
Fresh off his killer performance at the Video Music Awards, Timberlake appears on the cover of T, The New York Times Style Magazine, where he talked about why he waited so long to put out a new album. In the interview, the singer admits that, as an artist, "You get to this point, which I've done in the last five or six years where you become less worried about success and failure."
The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award winner shares that he has come to realize that "life doesn't happen in black and white…the gray area is where you become an adult." According to Timberlake, that's the "place where life happens." If they gray area is where Timberlake keeps producing movies and music, we think he should commit to stay there!

Lady Gaga's interview in Elle's October issue is sure to get a massive round of "Applause" from her fans, because she's not holding anything back. The cover star refuses to even consider the negative effects of criticism and pressure to succeed on her life, saying "I'm great under pressure. I'm a warrior. I'm Rocky, round 12."

She might be great under pressure, but Gaga has little patience for "cynical" critics. The singer says can't share "an honest story" about her past without someone asking her if she "really, truly struggled." Gaga turns the tables on them, asking "Do you know how much dirt I ate? Do you know the men I had to crawl through, the people that disrespected my body, my mind, my heart?"
If you're feeling terrified of failure or facing pressure to succeed, take a cue from the two performers. Put the critics aside and commit to doing what you love. For more ways to face these fears, check out the action widgets below.
