Eva Longoria is passionate about education, whether it be finishing up her master's degree or helping Latinas get an education with her Eva Longoria Foundation. She also wants you to be educated on how to take care of your skin.
If you saw our recent Jordin Sparks Sweet Tweet, you'll know that May is Melanoma Awareness Month. Eva Tweeted:
My #SublimeSun pledge: wear sunscreen. What's yours? Share & @lorealparisusa will donate $1 to @melanomarealli bit.ly/PledgeRules
— Eva Longoria (@EvaLongoria) May 9, 2013
Remember these important dates: May 13, May 20, May 23, May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17, and June 24. On those dates, if you tweet about protecting your skin and use the hashtag #SublimeSun, L'Oreal will donate a dollar to the Melanoma Research Alliance Foundation (up to $10,000 total). Only your first Tweet will get a donation (I know, I know, you're ready to go hashtag crazy, aren't you?). But if you do Tweet about it more than once, it is a good way of spreading awareness. Maybe one of your friends will read it and decide to slap on a little bit of sunscreen after all.
Melanoma is the most deadly kind of skin cancer, but if you catch it early, the cure rate is at about 90%. That's why it's important to be educated on melanoma and see a doctor right away if you notice any suspicious marks on your body. While melanoma isn't 100% preventable, things like using sunscreen (just like Eva said) and wearing a hat with a brim can go a long way in keeping your skin -- and body -- in tiptop shape.
