What do Phillip Phillips and Emma Roberts have in common?
Phillip is doing his part to keep music education in school, and Emma wants to help arts education in classrooms. She knows about a contest that gives schools generous donations for their art programs. That is, after their students show how creative they can get with a pair of kicks.
Emma Tweeted:
Vote for #vanscustomculture and help support art in schools!! bit.ly/CustomCulture Which shoes are your favorite?

This is the fourth annual Vans Custom Culture art contest, in which Vans sends plain white sneakers to high schools and lets the students design them. They don't have to be practical (in other words, you don't have to be able to walk in them) so the sky's the limit in terms of creativity. Check out the submission below from finalists Gale-Ettrick Trempealeau High School in Wisconsin.

So as you can see, this year students got super creative and sent in pics of their masterpieces. From here, Vans picked their 50 faves and now they're asking YOU to vote on which ones you like best. You have until May 13, and then the five schools with the most votes will get a trip to New York for (drumroll, please) the Final Event!
Each year Vans brings in celebrity judges to look over the final designs, and past judges include AnnaLynne McCord and Whitney Port. Who will judge this year? Shh, it's a secret! Whoever they are, they'll announce the official winner at the Final Event. The winning school gets $50,000 (OMG!) for its art program, and the other four schools get $4,000 for theirs. There'll also be a $10,000 prize for whoever wins the best Local Flavor part of the contest. You can't help but be curious if Emma might end up being one of the judges, but at any rate, this contest is too cool to pass up!
