After spending a week cleaning up at the foreign box office, Iron Man turned his sights to his home country, the good old U.S. of A., and once here, the latest Marvel movie continued to break records.
"Iron Man 3" kicked off its domestic release to the tune of $175 million, good enough for the #2 opening weekend of all time. Marvel Studios now holds the top two spots. "The Avengers" still holds the record with $207 million.
The total for the third standalone Iron Man movie now sits at $608 million, which already makes it the second biggest Marvel movie of all time, ahead of "Iron Man2," which made a total of $623.9 million during its entire theatrical run.
