TLC made history as the best-selling female R&B group of all time, and their story will come to the big screen this October in the VH1 biopic, "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story." In a newly released trailer, Lil Mama, Keke Palmer, and Drew Sidora reenact some of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, and Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins' most monumental moments, including the socially conscious "Waterfalls" video.
The Best Music Video With A Message category was incorporated into the VMAs three years ago, but had it existed back in '95, "Waterfalls" would have totally blown the competition out of the water. Especially seeing as it won Video of the Year, Best Group Video, Best R&B Video, and the Viewer's Choice Award at the 1995 VMAs. The video boldly tackles drug use and HIV, two problems plaguing inner cities at the time, and even, still, today. And let us also give props to "Unpretty", another pro-social anthem all about loving yourself for who you are.
The TLC biopic will be released alongside a compilation album that will include some of the group's biggest hits and new songs penned by Lady Gaga and Ne-Yo. Watch "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story" on VH1 on Monday, October 21, and vote for this year's Best Music Video With A Message before catching the 2013 Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25th, on MTV.
