Last night's "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" was filled with plenty of drama (Kim finally resolved that divorce), a trip to Greece, and my FAVE moment, Khloe talking to Kris about her passion for animals!
Cameras caught Khloe in the garage with a giant elephant statue, where she was embracing her inner Andy Warhol as she painted.
Why was she doing this you ask? Well, it's all for a charity by the name of Elephant Parade! The mission behind this charity is to create big, beautiful elephant statues to help create awareness about endangered elephants. Khloe took to her blog and posted, "Four coats of gold paint later and now it's time for the details. #ElephantParadeUSA".
Statues are then auctioned off by The Asian Elephant Foundation at big gala events across the country, where proceeds then benefit various elephant projects. Fun fact: the statues are actual sizes of a baby elephant! Isn't it such a great idea? It's a cause worth advocating for, according to the New York Times, "a staggering 62 percent (of elephants) vanished from central Africa between 2002 and 2011, according to a study".
Elephants are being murdered by poachers for their ivory and sold into various markets. The World Wildlife Fund revealed, "If conservation action is not forthcoming, elephants may become locally extinct in some parts of Africa within 50 years." It's time we stand up with Khloe and help be a voice for these beautiful creatures.
