What did you do last night? I'll tell you what I did. I stared at my phone waiting for a boy to text me back. (He didn't, boo.) Meanwhile, Kings Of Leon were performing at the Rock for Oklahoma tornado benefit concert in Oklahoma City, along with The Flaming Lips, and Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer Jackson Browne. Way more productive.
This past May, a deadly tornado struck Oklahoma City, killing 24 people and causing an estimated $2 billion in damage. Thousands lost their homes and businesses, including many people close to the bands at last night's event. "We couldn't be more proud to lend a hand to our home state. We were all devastated by what happened there," said Kings of Leon bassist, Jared Followill. "We have family and friends that were affected by the tornadoes … this is the least we could do."
The evening also included a silent auction for a meet-n-greet with Victoria's Secret Angels Lily Aldridge and Erin Heatherton. Lily happens to be married to Kings of Leon front man Caleb Followill; in other words, I wanna be mad at her but I can't, because she's such a do-gooder. Proceeds of the concert will benefit the United Way of Central Oklahoma, which is still working to rebuild the lives and homes of those affected by the tornado. Follow the Action Links below to lend a helping hand. In the words of Kings Of Leon, the people of Oklahoma could really "Use Somebody" right now!
