British funny man Russell Brand may be headed back to movie theaters in "Pierre, Pierre," a politically incorrect romp of a comedy (via Variety). Larry Charles is set to direct the film, bringing raunchy-comedy cred to the project having previously directed "Borat" and "Bruno".
In the film, Brand would play an obnoxious Frenchman who steals the Mona Lisa and tries to transport it from Paris to London. Encountering numerous roadblocks along the way including a "French police inspector, a serial killer named Pigeons--t and his own brothel-owning mother," it doesn't sound like any easy task.
If Brand says "oui," he would replace Jim Carrey, who was tied to the lead role in early in development, along with director Jason Reitman.
Currently, Brand has his own show, "Brand X With Russell Brand" on FX, and he is also in an as-of-yet untitled directorial debut project from Diablo Cody and will reprise his voice as Dr. Nefario in "Despicable Me 2." Both films are scheduled to hit theaters in 2013.
