Finally: a day where we can formally celebrate those friends who've been through the birthdays, the awkward first dates, the heavy on the ice cream breakups, and the never-ending laughing fits.
Today marks the United Nations International Day of Friendship, a day implemented in 2011 with the idea that friendship between people, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and foster connections between communities worldwide. The day particularly celebrates young people as future leaders, who have the power in their hands to promote international understanding and L-O-V-E.
We know that celebs roll deep with entourage swag, but let's not forget that they have real live BFFs too! In fact, a lot of them are friends with each other. So naturally, we decided to compile a list of these adorable celeb duos who confide in each other, dine together, and bake cupcakes together.

It all began over a studded Valentino in 2009. Katy liked RiRi's purse, so RiRi sent her the same one for Valentine's Day. And the rest is history! A year later Rihanna planned Katy's bachelorette party in Las Vegas. And when the Cali Girl needed a shoulder to cry on after her divorce with Russell Brand , the Barbadian goddess was there to offer her warm hugs and some "Live Your Life" (hey T.I.!) wisdom. True bestie love? We think so.

When Sean got into a Jet Ski accident last year, Bieber tweeted "Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight. A true friend and big bro. please keep him in your prayers tonight as well." And when Sean got better, he said about Bieber: "That's my lil' bro man… I see that he's a loyal friend. For me to be in a life or death situation like that and then for me to come out the hospital and know that he's calling my mum, calling my manager, calling everybody asking how I'm doing, I see that he's a great friend; a great, true person at heart." Amen!

The two talented chicks worked together on the 2010 badass film, "The Runaways," and got tight real fast. Dakota said about Kristen:" "She's become one of my best friends. We're really close. I think it's really great working with your friends, and to be completely open with someone and to have no defense mechanism, you know what I mean? Just completely open with that person. I love that…" We can't help but wonder Dakota is providing K-Stew with some moral support these days -- amidst the "Twilight" star's cheating scandal.

When Selena was going through a bad breakup pre-Bieber days, she turned to Taylor. Selena said about Taylor, "She came to my house at 10:30 at night and knocked on my door. I opened it, and she had two big bags of junk food, cookies, Snickers and soda. She put it on the table, put her laptop on, we made a video, and she told me that now we could look forward to breakups, since we know the other one will get us junk food." Food always prevails! Oh, and earlier this year, Selena instagrammed a pic of her and T.Swift baking cupcakes together. SEE. Celebs are just like us! They pound cupcakes to the face too!

The sister-like friendship started way back when Snooks tried to make out with JWOWW in the hot tub the very first night of Jersey Shore. Since summer of '09 the hilarious duo have bonded through roommate dramz, broken hearts, their love of animals and um, animal prints (fakes ones that is). Now the two have their own self-titled TV series to show the world that through all their hormonal shenanigans, their BFF-ery is the real deal!
