Can you live off $1.50 a day? That's right -- one dollar and fifty cents. Not even enough to buy yourself a latte in the morning. It's called "extreme poverty" for a reason, and 1.4 billion people live on this amount on a daily basis. It's a number that's pretty hard to get your head around, right? That's why the group Live Below the Line has put together a five-day challenge: live off $1.50 a day during May 7-11. The mission? To spread awareness about poverty as well as raise money for orgs like UNICEF and Malaria No More. Awkward.'s Ashley Rickards already did the challenge and Nick Lachey is joining in. He shared the deets on Twitter:
Me. You. 1.4 Billion others. May 7-11 join @LBLUS and #belowtheline fundraiser for our programs. Could you do it?bit.ly/z5g3iP

This isn't Nick's first foray into helping those in need. In 2007, he founded the Nick Lachey Foundation, an org that sends funds to charities like Feeding America, the Make-A-Wish-Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters. This is just Nick's latest big-help. It's one thing to put big numbers in your head (1.4 billion!), it's another to experience what it's like being in their shoes. What ingredients can you feed yourself with that cost less than $1.50 a day? Gum?! When the week's up, we'll have to ask Nick!
