It's day two of Live Below the Line's week-long challenge that asks you to live on no more than $1.50 a day! (And donations from friends and family don't count.) That's not a random number, either -- $1.50 is the American equivalent of the extreme poverty line. You might be thinking, "Hey, nobody can live on that little money." But the truth is people do — 1.4 billion people worldwide. Take the U.S. population, times it by 4, and that's still only about 1.2 billion.
Which brings us to the challenge. It's all about spreading awareness and giving a firsthand glimpse at how hard it is to live off so little. Nick Lachey is doing the challenge and so is actress Malin Akerman, who has a little Truth or Dare to play with you (no, not the humiliating kind you played in middle school!):
See, that wasn't the embarrassing Truth or Date, was it? Live Below the Line is estimating more than 3,000 Americans will be taking part in this year's challenge but who wants to make it a much higher number? Last year's challenge raised about $2 million to fight extreme poverty. Let's hope this year will be even bigger and better. Live #belowtheline this week to make a diff in people's lives every week!
