In case you missed it, Barack Obama is sexy and he knows it. And he was born that way. What will the POTUS with the Mostess sing next?! That's where YOU come in -- we're giving y'all a chance to pick his next interwebz hit!
Fadi Saleh is the Wizard of Oz behind the hilar Baracksdubs YouTube channel, which has garnered over 13 million views. Yup, he's the dude who decided to put some pop words in Obama's mouth. He also happens to be a 19-year-old rising sophomore at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. "I started Baracksdubs out of sheer curiosity to see if something like this would work," says Fadi. "It's a tedious process, but I enjoy putting all these half second clips from Obama's speeches and watch them come together into something with a totally different meaning."
But this isn't about reppin' one side, it's about gettin' peeps to pay attention: "I don't have a political agenda in my videos. No one party is being supported. Yes, Obama is currently the star of Baracksdubs' show, but there is more in store as we get closer to Election Day," explained Fadi. "What my videos can do with the attention they've received is increase consciousness of the elections and remind people that they're approaching fast. Sometimes, that's all people need -- a little push to get them out and voting. If my videos are doing that, I must be doing something right."
Do your thang, Fadi! And now YOU gotta do yours: it's time to practice flexing that civic power by voting for one of these pop anthems for the next Barackdubs video! You have until Sunday, May 13 at midnight to pick your top tune worthy of the Presidential treatment.
+ Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe"
We're not sure why Obama didn't make a mustachio'd cameo in the hilar viral vid that Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the tween-tocracy made to this Canadian up-and-comer's perf pop song. Maybe they forgot to call him. But for serious, doesn't Barack think this about every voter: "Before you came into my life, I missed you so bad." Youth voters answered his call back in 2008, but will the phone be ringing off da hook for him this year?!
+ Gotye "Somebody That I Used To Know"
Politics is totes like a relationship. One minute, you're completely obsessed with a candidate -- putting stickers on your notebook and posting Instagrams from rallies -- and the next you're in the middle of a nasty ballot break-up. The giddy hope-and-change lovefest from 2008 has definitely worn off for some. Watching POTUS sing this song -- which shot unknown artist Gotye into fame -- would be INTENSE cuz y'all know Barack doesn't wanna be cut off.
+ Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris "We Found Love"
Dude, the Oval Office must go OFF to this fist-pumpin' dance track from RiRi and so-hot-right-now Scottish mixmaster Calvin Harris. Cuz guess who's looking for votes in a hopeless place? The Preezy of the United Steezy. The national mood is pretty bummer jam with high unemployment rates, climbing student loans and general disgust with DC antics. Good luck with that, homey.
+ Justin Bieber "Boyfriend"
Last week, Biebz dropped the video for his new smooth-talkin' single at the same time that excerpts from a book detailing young Barry as a shirtless-crossword-puzzle-playin' hipster boyfriend (during his pre-Michelle years in NYC, obvi) hit the interwebz. Dontcha just love how the universe works sometimes?! And now there's a chance we'll actually get to hear the Leader of the Free World workin' JB's sultry lyrics if y'all hit this tune up with votes!
+ LMFAO "Party Rock Anthem"
Everyday he's shufflin'…important papers. Yeaaaah, not exactly what LMFAO had in mind -- but the flamboyant pop duo have other things in common with the Prez, like jammin' with Jimmy Fallon. The late night talk show host has covered "Sexy and I Know It" with Bruce Springsteen and we all know that Jimbo slows jams the news with Barry. And once the Republicans finally pick a nominee, the mud-slinging will heat up and Barack will be all like, "Don't be mad now. Stop, hatin's bad."
Which should be the next Barackdubs song?
