He might have dropped his name from Common Sense to Common, but the man still has a lot of it (common sense, that is). This being election year, there's plenty of talk about voting, and right now Common is talking about getting YOU to vote in the MTV Act Aspire Awards.
'Member back when we asked you all to enter the contest? We hooked up with the Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards for our own MTV ACT Aspire Awards, inviting teens with cameras and creativity to make their own videos about causes they believe in.
Submissions are closed which means it's time to take a look at the finalists and vote! We've got finalists in categories like documentary, music video, poetry, and photography. Some submissions include "Down Syndrome and Us," a doc from 18-year-old Suarez Stella of Uruguay about her adorable little sister who has the condition. There's also the music video, "Medley World" which shows how people of different age, gender, race, social status can all draw one picture together.
Voting got up and running last Friday and will continue till June 8. The way you vote is pretty cool: if you like a vid, you share it online through Facebook and Twitter. Every time a vid gets Liked, Tweeted or Retweeted, that's another vote.
There will be lots of prizes, including laptops and donations to fave charities (that's right, winners pick!). One person will receive the MTV Act Aspire Award and they'll be getting one awesome trip to our homebase aka MTV Studios! Not only can you vote through clicks on your mouse, you can help dedicated young helpers spread their messages. Now that's common sense!
