Just last month, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg finished writing the third installment in their "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, which includes hits "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." Fans weren't sure when they'd see "The World's End" complete the genre tale connected by Cornetto ice cream flavors with Wright's "Scott Pilgrim" sidestepping things and Pegg's occupation with the "Star Trek" films.
Deadline delivered news last night, however, that the film is set for a spring 2013 release date. The duo makes their return with frequent collaborator Nick Frost, "20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl," with a September shoot date.
" … One of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End," the website shared. "As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries."

'Prometheus Rating Relieves Fans
"Prometheus" fans, rejoice. The upcoming Ridley Scott film was granted an R-rating for "sci-fi violence including some intense images and brief language." That's like music to our ears! The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster who are part of a team of explorers that discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth. Things take a dark turn when they uncover a secret about the future of the human race. "Prometheus" makes its way to the big screen on June 8.
Gary Busey Bloopers in New 'Piranha 3DD' Outtakes Vid
The world could always use more Gary Busey, so website HitFix shared a blooper reel of the actor doing what he does best: being wacky G.B. The bikinis come off — with flesh still attached, even — in the racy water park film that finds hordes of killer fish attacking the summertime attraction. The film also starring Katrina Bowden, Danielle Panabaker, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, and David Hasselhoff hits theaters on June 1.
'Dear Satan' Gets Picked up by Fox
Famed filmmaking duo the Farrelly Brothers are writing a letter to Satan. Their new project about a 7-year-old girl who scribbles up a missive to the jolly guy at the north pole, but accidentally spells his name like "Satan," just got snatched up by Fox. Writer Dan Ewen described his real-life inspiration behind the film, prompted by a babysitting experience he had. "There was this cute little card, covered in candy canes and glitter. I fell in love with the idea of this note mistakenly being delivered to the Prince of Darkness and the fiery wackiness that would ensue." More news on satanic slay bells when we get it.
New 'Friday the 13th' Documentary Explores Slasher Canon
Dread Central had the exclusive scoop on an upcoming "Friday the 13th" documentary, "Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th." Corey Feldman, who played Tommy Jarvis in the slasher series, will narrate and star in the movie expected to release later this year. The film is promising "dozens of new interviews … detailing the film franchise, the television show, and even the remake." Color us excited, since we're big dorks for the "F13" TV show and all things Jason Voorhees. What about you?
Deadly Nazis and Zombies Headed to Cannes Film Festival
"Superman" producer Pierre Spengler will be bringing +3 to Cannes with him. The filmmaker is shopping around two horror projects at the acclaimed festival, according to Screen Daily. "I Am Legion" has "The Abandoned's" Nacho Cerda attached to direct, and is described as a supernatural thriller set against the background of World War II. "The Zombies That Ate the World" is set in the future and finds the undead trying to cope as the lower echelons of society. Alejandro Jodorowsky's "Bouncer" about a one-armed gunslinger will also be pitched to interested parties. The genre projects originated from French comic press Humanoids, ensuring their full horror nerd potential.
'Chernobyl Diaries'' Extreme Tourism
Oren Peli of "Paranormal Activity" fame wrote the upcoming "Chernobyl Diaries," which follows six tourists on an "extreme vacation," who become stranded in the deserted town where the famous disaster hit more than 25 years ago. They're not alone, however. A new featurette promoting the film shares some extreme tourism to get audiences in the mood. Warner Bros. releases the film on May 25.
