Move over Met Gala, May 30 is going to be one stellar night. 'Cause that's when The Clarins Million Meals Concert for FEED will be going on at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Nick Cannon will be the host with the most and they'll be performances by John Legend and Natasha Bedingfield (Will she sing "The Hills" theme song?) But the night won't just be about how good the music is or how great Nick will be (though we know he'll kill it!). The concert wants to raise enough money to supply one million school meals to kids who need it. In fact, in its five years of existence, FEED has already supplied almost 60 million meals worldwide. And even if you're not able to attend, you can check out these nifty FEED bags which raises funds for the cause or simply tweet about the show with the hashtag #millionmeals.
Check out our interview below with Nick about hosting the concert, fighting hunger and his thoughts on new colleague Howard Stern on "America's Got Talent" -- the new season premieres on 5/14.
ACT: Why did you get involved with this event? As a father of two kids, did that impact your decision since FEED has brought nearly 60 million meals for underprivileged children in 62 countries?
NICK: Hunger is a deep concern of mine and I feel that no one should go without food in this world as long as there are caring people to lend a hand. I've had to struggle in my past and I know what it's like to go without, so I try to do as much as I can to help bring awareness to an issue that hits very close to home for me.
ACT: What can we look forward to with you as host? Any surprises?
NICK: Well, you know me . . . I want to make sure everyone is having a good time while also bringing attention to a very serious issue. There are some great performers lined up for the evening and I'm sure everyone will enjoy the talent Clarins and FEED have selected. As for surprises . . . well, you'll just have to wait and see.
ACT: What can your fans do to make a difference with the cause?
NICK: We definitely encourage everyone to tweet about The Clarins Million Meals Concert for FEED happening at Lincoln Center on May 30th featuring John Legend and Natasha Bedingfield, to name a few.
ACT: We have to ask about Howard. How has it been working with him and what can fans of the show expect from him? Can you give us any hints?
NICK: He's definitely a great addition and it's been a lot of fun working with him. The talent this year is the best we have seen so far in all the seasons I have been part of the show. The viewers will not be disappointed.
