Yesterday, Twitter went into major overdrive with tweets that included the hashtags #MarriageEquality and #Obama. That's 'cause yesterday President Obama officially came out in support of same-sex marriage, and the country is letting him know what we think. The response from celebs was pretty much universally positive, and we got some response from our own MTV family as well.
Paul Iacono of "The Hard Times of RJ Berger," who's dedicated to helping LGBT youth, was of course stoked at the President's words. He gave a shout-out with the following short-but-sweet tweet:
Thanks Mr. President proud day.

His castmate Kara Taitz also gave the POTUS a shout-out on Twitter to show her appreciation:
Dear Mr. President, You rock! that is all. #hope

Star of "Savage U" and to-go sex expert Dan Savage also got in the tweet-about-the-news act. He didn't give a warm and cool-sounding shoutout to President Obama, but he did show his support for the president in two different tweets:
Gay people better get out there and support the president. If he loses in November, we'll be blamed.

Gay people should also be out there supporting the president because he's earned our support -- and how. #theresthattoo

Earlier in the day Kailyn of "Teen Mom 2" was tweeting about her support of same-sex marriage, but she was doing it in response to Amendment 1 in North Carolina. So when she saw President Obama's tweet about the same thing, she made sure to retweet it:
"Same-sex couples should be able to get married."—President Obama

A website, Retweeting Obama, is tracking the number of times Obama's tweet has been retweeted. At the moment, it's well over 50,000 retweets.
