It was a match made in celeb heaven when "Twilight Saga" actress Nikki Reed wed "American Idol" contestant Paul McDonald, so Nikki knows firsthand what it's like to be all crazy in love and married. She wants to make sure everyone who's in love can get married, and shared a video on marriage equality.
Nikki Tweeted:
Please watch. Regardless of how you were raised, you have a heart, and you can recognize love.tinyurl.com/cyrcqxh

Nikki's vid was made by the DOMA Project, an org that's against the Defense of Marriage Act since the Act basically says same-sex marriages don't count. The vid introduces us to Brit Jason and American David, who met in 2007 and got married in New York in 2012. The state of New York recognizes their marriage, but because of DOMA, their marriage isn't recognized on the federal level.
There are multiple problems with this, and the video highlights a very specific one. You see, when an American marries someone of the opposite-sex who's from a different country, their partner is able to get a greencard. But because Jason and David are both men, Jason is only allowed to see David three months at a time and then he has to leave. He's denied that all-important greencard.
DOMA refuses more than 1,100 rights to same-sex married couples that opposite-sex married couples can get automatically. The Supreme Court will soon give its ruling on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, and many people in the LGBT community -- as well as allies like Nikki -- are raising their voices to demand equal treatment for couples like David and Jason.
