Yesterday, we were treated to the fantastic news that Sam Mendes will be returning to direct the tentatively titled "Bond 24," which is due in theaters on November 6, 2015, and it got us thinking.
Who would we cast in the next Bond movie if we had to pick today?
There are only so many roles that a 007 movie has to fill out for every installment, so for fun, we cobbled together a quick cast as we start to look forward to Fall 2015. Check it out below!
Main Bond Girl - Penélope Cruz
You know that thing when someone makes a really good suggestion and then it's all you can think about? That's what happened when a rumor from Yahoo! Movies UK about the "Bond 24" female lead called out Cruz specifically. And you know what? We kind of liked that idea. When given the right material, Cruz can be flat-out incredible, and would it be so wrong to have an age-appropriate Bond girl for once?
Secondary Bond Girl - Jessica Chastain
When we spoke with Chastain for "Mama," she said the role that she's been dying for is that of the villain, so why not give the lady what she wants? Since the second Bond girl is the one that either dies early or is evil, we could take the latter route and give Chastain the role that she's been dying for. Because you know that she'd crushed it.
Villain - Idris Elba
Okay, so casting Elba in the role of "Bond 24's" main villain would rule him out for a future gig as Bond himself, something he has publically campaigned for in the past few years, but let's get real. The next film has a November 2015 release date on the books. Craig's contract is good for one more installment after that. Elba will be 43 by the time "Bond 24" comes out. When it's time for Craig to pass the torch, Elba will have been aged out of the running, so let's give him one hell of a consolation prize, eh?
