Haters gon' hate, and this week, they're hatin' on Beyonce. Many are upset with Bey's $50 million Pepsi endorsement deal, which they say conflicts with the health-conscious Let's Move fitness campaign she fronted for Michelle Obama a couple years back. To this we say, "You must not know 'bout B, you must not know 'bout B!"
Firstly, Beyonce has always promoted healthy living and realistic body image, while many other female A-listers (not naming names) have not. Critics put her down for endorsing a product that, in excessive quantities, can cause obesity, while praising others for being too thin. Speaking of put downs, it's up to the consumer (or his or her parents) to decide when to put the soda away. Beyonce ain't got time for that!
"Pepsi is a brand I've grown up seeing my heroes collaborate with," the R&B diva shared in an interview with Flaunt. "The company respects musicians and artistry. I wouldn't encourage any person, especially a child, to live life without balance." And balance is exactly what most health professionals recommend, because we all know what happens when you completely eliminate the foods you love from your diet: 2 a.m. ice cream, pizza, soda binge! It's okay to cater to yourself every once in a while, especially if you maintain a healthy fitness routine.
If I hate Beyonce for anything, it's the fact that she's $50 million richer, and I'm not. We all know soda is bad for us, but so are most things when consumed excessively (beer, the Internet, electronic dance music). So lay off Queen B, and follow the Action Links below for more info on living a Bey-utiful, balanced lifestyle.
