When the world grows too obsessed with Miley Cyrus' personal life, what does homegirl do? She releases a video of herself twerkin' to J'Dash and Flo Rida's "WOP"...in a unicorn onesie!
Miley posted the vid on Facebook last night with the accompanying message, "CHECK IT #WOP #1Z #UNICORN #TWERK." We're definitely not talking about her alleged breakup anymore! Twerkin' is a great way to silence da haterz...or at least change the subject.
Here are four other ways to Twerk for a cause inspired by Miley's one-horned moves.
+ Dance Marathon
"Dance Marathon" is a general term for any event in which people dance for as long as they can for a prize or a cause. Most schools' dance marathons raise funds for various health and children's charities. Penn State's THON is an annual 46-hour music and dance fest that raised over $12 million for the Penn State Hershey Medical center last month! To start a dance marathon, all you've gotta do is pick a cause, pick a venue, pick a sponsor, pick a date, and TWERK!
+ One Billion Rising
One billion women around the world will be raped or beaten in their lifetimes. That's why, this Valentine's Day, One Billion Rising asked one billion people to dance for women's rights. The movement was successful, but our journey doesn't end there! Organize a female empowerment event in your community any time of the year to keep the momentum going, and end violence against women once and for all.
+ Twerk to Get Over an Ex!
When the goin' gets tough, the tough gets...twerkin'?! It's no secret that physical activity is just as good for your emotional well-being as it is for your physical health. Take a page out of Selena Gomez' book and twerk to relieve stress or to get a particular someone off your mind. Nothing says, "I'm doin' just fine" like a booty pop!
+ "Move Your Body!"
Beyoncé's "Move Your Body" vid was created for First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign to prevent childhood obesity. More than one third of American children are overweight or obese, but the Let's Move campaign is working to change this through programs in physical activity, food, and nutrition.
