"The Dark Knight Rises" has been nominated in five different categories for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, and cast member Joseph Gordon-Levittstill seems to be in heroic mood. He Tweeted an astonishing fact about gun violence in hopes of opening dialogue and bringing the numbers down.
A surprised-sounding JGL Retweeted President Barack Obama's original Tweet:
Wow RT @barackobama: "Since 1968, more Americans have died from gun violence than in all of America's wars combined. twitter.com/BarackObama/st…"

That's definitely a staggering fact that warrants a wow! Talk about gun violence has been especially prevalent after the school shooting at Sandy Hook, and it can clearly be a controversial topic. But Joseph isn't a stranger to Tweeting about controversial political things. Case in point: when he Tweeted about juveniles in solitary confinement to spread awareness of the issue and get people informed.
President Obama is asking people to contact their members of Congress to ask them to help bring down gun violence. Telling your elected officials how you feel about different topics is very important, because it lets them know how their constituents stand on issues. While it's fair to say different people have different opinions on how to bring down gun violence, nothing will get done unless people raise their voices (respectfully). For more info on this subject, you could always check out Big Boi's informative Tweet on gun control or read what Daniel Hernandez (the intern who saved Congresswoman Gabby Giffords's life) has to say on the matter. President Obama has also spoken about his ideas on this issue. If something is done to bring down gun violence JLG will be able to tweet "Wow" again...but for a good reason.
