"Godzilla" has officially started filming, and now a video has been released by Legendary Pictures that shows director Gareth Edwards on set. It was taken right after the "Godzilla" crew filmed the movie's first shot, and Edwards seems ready to burst with excitement about finally getting the film underway.
"Hi Legendary fans, it's Gareth and this is day one of a very long shoot for 'Godzilla' and we've just finished the first shot. It went great," Edwards said. "I can't tell you any more, you'll have to see the movie."
"Godzilla" is filming Vancouver right now, but it's clear from the video that the city is covering for Japan. The scene filmed was apparently shot on a set that looks like a Japanese airport, specifically in the customs area. There must be more to read into that somewhere.
Starring Aaron Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn, "Godzilla" is due out on May 16, 2014.
