You probably know Mindy Kaling from "The Office" and her own show "The Mindy Project," but do you know that one of her earlier jobs was as a Ben Affleck impersonator?
Mindy, who has redefined the face of funny, has come a long way since her Ben Affleck-impersonating days. And now that she's making that Ben Affleck money, she's all about sharing it with those in need. "I've had a terrific birthday and a great life," she Tweeted on her 32nd birthday. "If you have a favorite charity on charitynavigator.org you like, tell me. It's thank$ time!" Mindy donated money to a different charity every hour for the entire day!
Given that she's not your typical Hollywood starlet, it took years for Mindy to learn to accept herself as a person and an actress. Her book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns)" addresses family differences, self esteem, and all of the good and bad experiences that made her the successful woman she is today.
Mindy always brings the LOLS, but more importantly, she's a reminder of our evolving world. One in which women of color are finally considered beautiful, and funny, and capable of anything. Just ask the newly crowned Indian-American Miss America.
