Weekends are a great time to catch a movie, and Shay Mitchell likes to end her weekends by watching documentaries with Michaela Blaney, the Lifestyle Blogger for the Shay Mitchell tumblr. This weekend they watched a doc on women's issues and it blew their minds.
Shay Tweeted:
See what #docu @MichaelaLBlaney and I watched & LOVED! Thought-provoking & real - a MUST see! http://t.co/K5g0ax2kpz @RepresentPledge

The film, called "Miss Representation,"is about how powerful and influential women are "misrepresented and underrepresented in media and the world today." Michaela gave a review of the doc, which Shay links to in her Tweet.
"The basis of the film was shocking and the statistics floored us," Michaela wrote. "It focuses on how women are placed in society, still to this day, and how all of us as a whole let it happen and let it shape Hollywood, Politics and Culture."
After you check out the review, odds are you'll be itching to see the film. Well, if you go to the website, you can learn more about it, like where there are screenings, and the site has a whole page full of ways you can take action for women's rights. They've even put together gender-focused curriculum you might be able to use at your school (talk to your teacher if you're interested). And one super easy way to take a stand is to sign the pledge they have there: "I pledge to use my voice to spread the message of Miss Representation and challenge the media's limiting portrayal of women and girls."
Nothing like curling up to a movie and then using it to help change the world!
