The 2013 MTV European Music Awards nominees are in, and the competition is mighty steeper than Justin Bieber's private jet's gas bill! Although there's only one award given out in every category, all of the frontrunners deserve to win for their pro-social work. Check 'em out!
+ Macklemore + Ryan Lewis
Best Song nominees Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are still riding that "Thrift Shop" wave. But let's not forget about "Same Love," their groundbreaking rap anthem in favor of same-sex marriage!
+ Justin Timberlake
Best Male Artist nominee Justin Timberlake is all about his "Suit & Tie," but he's totes willing to wear a t-shirt for a good cause. He's been known to rock his Stand Up To Cancer tee to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and survivors.
+ Thirty Seconds To Mars
Best Alternative Artist nominees Thirty Seconds To Mars also care about preserving planet Earth. Frontman Jared Leto is a member of the anti-fracking movement (which has nothing to do with what rockstars and groupies do after concerts). Fracking is the process of drilling for natural gas, and is has many negative impacts on the environment! Jared is one of many celebs speaking out against it.
+ One Direction
It comes as no surprise that Brit boy band One Direction is nominated for the Biggest Fans Award. And the boys know how to use their fans for good, always encouraging them to take part in charity campaigns like Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
+ Lady Gaga
Win or lose, Best Female Artist nominee Lady Gaga encourages fans to love and accept themselves. Check out her Born This Way Foundation if you're in search of a bully-free zone where everyone is beautiful.
+ P!nk
Best Live Artist nominee P!nk is a super artist and a super mom, encouraging fans to join March Of Dimes -- an org that promotes healthy mothers and newborns.
+ Taylor Swift
As usual, Taylor Swift is up for pretty much every award she could possibly be nominated for. And this isn't the only list she's at the top of. Tay-Tay was recently included on the female-heavy Forbes Most Powerful Celebrities list.
+ Katy Perry
Best Female Artist nominee Katy Perry knows the importance of keeping her tours eco-friendly. Apparently, she makes her entire crew drink from reusable water bottles!
+ Justin Bieber
Best Male Artist Justin Bieber deserves a lot of praise...for his music and for his ongoing involvement with Pencils Of Promise. POP is all about bringing education to remote areas of the world; places where people might not even know who Justin Bieber is!
+ Beyonce
Best Live Artist nominee Beyonce also happens to be the wealthiest artist on the roster. She recently became one half of pop music's first billionaire couple. "Who Run The World?" Girls!
+ Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus is up for multiple awards, but what makes her a real winner is her stance against online bullying. "Please Smilers don't ever think somehow you are supporting me by being hateful towards other artists," she recently Tweeted. "My fans make me proud by supporting my music & everything I do."
