Kerry Washington often uses Twitter to talk about pro-social causes. Now she's bringing attention to LIFE Camp, a non-profit that works for violence prevention and opens the horizons for young people.
The "Scandal" star Tweeted:
DONATE $5 and support @MichaelSkolnik's anti-violence movement #lifecamp. RT! RT! http://t.co/KPq79dt8tl -kw's krew

LIFE Camp is located in Queens, New York, and the amount of shootings in the neighborhood dropped to zero after it was implemented. But then funding got held up, and since then five people in the area have been shot. Erica Ford, the founder of the non-profit, is asking for people to donate so she can keep doing her important work. She needs to raise $100,000, and she's about halfway there. Erica has put together a vid where she and people who have been positively affected by LIFE Camp talk about why it matters so much.

Kerry brings up Michael Skolnik, who is the editor-in-chief of Global Grind as well as the political director to Russell Simmons, co-founder of Def Jam. Writing about LIFE Camp, he said, "Whether you got $5 on it or want to write a company check, every George Washington helps the general in the field. We have twenty-eight days..."
Gun violence and violence in general are two big topics right now, and supporters of LIFE Camp keep pointing out that this program is working. Erica said, "I believe it's imperative that we attempt to understand people on both sides of the pistol. They are both human beings, both victims. They both need help, because hurt people hurt people. This philosophy is at the core of LIFE camp and I truly believe this is why we have been able to stop so many potentially violent situations."
