This Thursday, October 17, marks the third annual #SpiritDay! Spirit Day is a beautiful day where everyone dresses in purple to support the LGBT community.
Founded in 2010, the movement has since grown into a huge day of action, and this year an array of celebrities have pledged to rep Spirit Day to help put an end to bullying.
#SpiritDay is sooo easy to participate in, all you have to do is accentuate an outfit with a hint of purple (or a as much as you want). Along with rockin' your fabulous fashion, GLAAD is encouraging you to change your profile pictures!
Like last year, we have decided to highlight some of GLAAD's #SpiritDay ambassadors who are helping to shine a light on this important day.
+ Macklemore + Ryan Lewis
After the release of "Same Love," Macklemore and Ryan Lewis began to pave a way for social change through music like never before. In an exclusive interview with MTV Act, Ben Haggerty revealed, "You can only watch injustice go on for so long until you're compelled to say something. To speak out against it. I read an article about a 13-year-old kid who committed suicide because he was ridiculed at school over being gay. That was it. I had to say something."
+ Ke$ha
When it comes to stand up against bullying, Ke$ha is one superstar using her platform like an "Animal." On her MTV docu-series, "Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life", Ke$ha opened up about her personal experience with bullying, saying, "it is imperative that we empower kids to believe love and support are louder than anyone that brings us down."
+ Snooki
Snooki may be busy dancing her booty off on "Dancing With The Stars," but it's her work supporting the LGBT community that takes the trophy. As a fierce supporter of LGBT rights, Snooki recently posed for the NOH8 campaign. From wild party girl, to FAB mother, Snooki has no doubt transformed her life and is a great role model for her lil' meatball!
+ Jason Collins
Jason Collins has had quite a year! After being the first out basketball player in the NBA, he has also turned into a big LGBT icon in the process. This #SpiritDay, Jason is one of GLAAD's ambassadors.
