Events like Hurricane Sandy and the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma are difficult for everyone, including pets. That's why "Twilight Saga" actor Kellan Lutz was touched to read a story about a woman who makes it her business to make sure pets are reunited with their fams after natural disasters.
Kellan Tweeted:
Hey Team,
Check it out.

We know Kellan's an animal lover from his work encouraging people to adopt shelter pets, and the story he shared on Twitter will definitely make you go "Awwwww." Both his links are about the incredible Dixie Louviere, who was living in New Orleans when Katrina struck. She and her pets were able to get away to safety, but when she returned to her home city, she saw that many pets had been left behind by their owners. Sometimes the owners had just left them, but sometimes the animals had gotten lost in the evacuation process, or they'd been separated during the chaos. She began feeding the pets and taking care of them until they were either adopted or reunited with their original owners
"For people dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster, being reunited with the furriest member of their family can make all the difference -- and I've made it my mission to help make these reunions possible," she wrote. So now she uses Facebook to help get pets back together with their pet parents. Dixie and her network of helpers have gotten dogs and cats back home after Sandy, the explosion in West, Texas, and most recently in Moore, Oklahoma. If all this incredible work doesn't give her a lifetime of good karma, than we don't know what will! Thank you, Dixie for all the awesomeness that you do!
