I've always assumed that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber don't just watch cartoons and do each other's hair when they're together, but now it's confirmed! In "Slow Down," the second single off her upcoming album Stars Dance, Selena let's us know that she's "good at mouth-to-mouth resuscitation." Oh.
But hold up. Before we throw shade at one of the only Disney offspring who hasn't had a major scandal, breakdown, or nip slip, let's remember that Selena is almost 21 and can't be our little princess forever! And let's give her credit where it's due though -- in the song, she also asks: "Can we take it nice and slow?" She's in no hurry to get anywherez, and you, too, can take control of your (sex) life. Here are a few ways to "Slow Down" if you're in a relationship that's moving too fast.
+ Just Say No
If anyone ever tries to pressure you into hooking up with some version of the line, "But everybody's doing it!" tell 'em to "Slow Down!" Half of all high school students have never had sex, and no matter what anybody says or does, what you choose to do with your body -- and when -- is totally up to you. Any awkward feelings that arise out of turning someone down won't be nearly as awkward as waking up somewhere you don't wanna be, after doing something you didn't wanna do.
+ Avoid Fast Situations
If you're trying to take it slow but don't have the self control, avoid situations that could lead to things you're not ready for. Often, that simply means drinking smart at parties, or not going home with anyone afterwards. Even sober, it's helpful to take a step back and figure out where an interaction is headed, and if you wanna go there.
+ Play It Safe
So Ryan Gosling (or Selena Gomez, depending on your preference) is in your apartment, "Slow Down" is playing, and there's no stopping what's gonna happen next. Do yourself and your partner a favor and use protection every time to help prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancy. As much as you want to have Ryan's babies, now might not be a good time for you.
