As with all of the Christopher Nolan's movies, information about his next project, the mysterious time travel adventure, "Interstellar," has slowly begun to leak out.

Deadline is reporting that the secretive director has offered the lead role of Cooper to Matthew McConaughey. The part, if accepted, would only cap off an incredible renaissance for the 43-year-old actor, who wowed audiences and critics in "Magic Mike," "Killer Joe," "Bernie," and the upcoming "Mud."

Little else about the project is known besides his history. "Interstellar" began as a script by Nolan's brother, Jonathan, with Steven Spielberg attached to direct. The screenplay was inspired by the theories of Kip Thorne, a Caltech physicist who argues that time travel is possible through worm holes.

In January, the "Dark Knight Rises" director became attached to the project, with an intention of re-writing his brother's older draft.

McConaughey's next few films are equally as impressive as his run over the last year. In the fall, he'll appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street." He also went rail-thin for the AIDs drama, "Dallas Buyers Club."

"Interstellar" is reportedly due in theaters and in IMAX on November 7, 2014.
