We're only two episodes deep into MTV's new series "Washington Heights," but already, the cast knows the cultural significance of their show. We recently caught up with poet Frankie, fashion-man Fred, artist Ludwin, and rapper JP to discuss what it means to be part of a predominantly Latino cast, and how they're breaking TV stereotypes.

"It's crazy that it's a full Latino cast, and we're about to be premiered on MTV," said Fred shortly before the first episode of "Washington Heights" aired. "And the fact that there's actually a story behind what we have to say is really, really great." We've already seen the start of a few great stories, like JP pursuing a music career while supporting his family in episode one.

Ludwin is happy that "Washington Heights" isn't your typical telenovela  -- sorry Telemundo! "Since we are a Latino cast, it's cool that it's not a novella," he says. "It's not about a woman getting slapped and someone from the dead coming back to life." As the show unfolds, we'll learn more about each cast member's story, but until then, you can catch up on missed episodes -- and get sneak peeks of future ones!
