What did you do today? I just got back from Shakira and Gerard Piqué's baby shower. Not only that, but I'm now a UNICEF Champion. No big deal.
Sound cray? Thanks to a Shakira's work with UNICEF, you can participate in the happy couple's virtual worldwide baby shower! All you need is access to the world wide web and your favorite social network (I chose my Twitter account).

Follow this link, create an account and start exploring! You'll start off in the "living room," where you can view exclusive pictures of the proud parents-to-be. You earn points by completing tasks (you receive 50 just for signing up), and the more points you earn the higher your rank as a champion. Earn enough points and you'll qualify to win prizes, including signed DVDs and CDs. Fans of soccer star Gerard's team, FC Barcelona, can win shirts and footballs signed by the player.
If you want to send the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and her man a present, just click on the gifts on the table. You'll learn about life-saving items you can send to mothers and their children all over the world in lieu of sending the couple a fancy bassinet or diaper hamper.
The gifts, including mosquito nets, rehydration salts, and polio vaccines, start at just $5 and help combat some of the major causes of neonatal death around the world. An estimated 19,000 children under the age of five die from causes that are easily preventable; these gifts will make a huge difference in the lives of these kids.
Before you start tweeting and posting links to your Facebook, make sure you click on the drawings on the table; UNICEF has compiled a few slides on child survival statistics that you need to know to spread awareness.
If you buy the couple a present, let us know by sending us a tweet! Log on, sign up and become a UNICEF Champion now. We'll see you at the shower!
