Not everyone can pull off skintight leather get-ups, engage in a little crossbow-slinging action and, all the while, make everything look completely effortless. No, no, slaying evil witches as a full-time gig requires a serious lesson in badass-ery. And that's exactly what we got from "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" stars Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz recently sat down with the pair (who play the famous siblings), and even managed to get them to spill their tips for "the aspiring badass." So brace yourself for a real learning experience (and be prepared to read the word "badass" over and over again), because we're about to dish out all of the highlights:

Badasses are badasses from the start.
First off, the self-discovery of a true badass happens at an early age. "I knew I was a badass when I was in a club when I was about 13," Arterton said. "This guy pinched my butt and I punched him in the face." You see? We knew those fisticuffs were years in the making.

Badasses only wear one kind of fabric.
As for the badass' choice of fashion, the two agreed on one particular fabric—leather. "It looks good on badass," said Arterton. Renner agreed: "It can't hurt to have some leather and weapon."

Badasses carry nickname-less weapons.
Speaking of the tools of the trade, badasses stick to the no-nonsense kind, like the crossbows and shotguns Hansel and Gretel wield so mercilessly to take down witches. "There's no tomfoolery with those," Renner said. "It is what it is." However, they should never be affectionately dubbed, because according to Arterton, a true badass "wouldn't name their weapon."

Badasses don't suck.
When it came down to the basics, Renner had one piece of advice for all of the badass wannabes out there: "Don't suck." But of course, in typical badass fashion, he remained humble about his badass cred: "I don't know, like I don't consider myself a badass, so I don't know."

"Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" follows brother-sister duo Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton), who, after experiencing a traumatic run-in with a certain cannibalistic crone, decide to become witch-slaying bounty hunters.

The movie will open in theaters on January 25.
