3-day weekend ahead! That means you can fist pump twice as hard Friday have an extra full day to give back to those affected by Hurricane Sandy!!! If you're free on Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 21), got a soft spot for Sandy relief and want to work with MTV, we've got a great opportunity for you!
Getting involved with Sandy relief is important to MTV, and that's why we're doing Spring Fix, MTV's Alternative Spring Break, where we'll encourage spring breakers to come to areas affected by Sandy. We've partnered with United Way and mtvU will be hosting. BUT HOLD UP -- you don't have to wait until spring 2013 to do Sandy relief with us.
We figured MLK Day would be a perf time for philanthropy, so we've teamed up with the St. Bernard Project on the day's rebuilding projects. We'll be there, and St. Bernard Project has set aside a limited amount of space exclusively for the MTV audience! Please note you need to be at least 18 years of age, and will need to find your own way to your volunteer location (in or around NYC/Long Island). If you're going to take part, make sure you're wearing comfortable clothes -- and be prepared to get messy!
If you're interested, register with the St. Bernard Project. You'll need to register before this Thursday (January 17), and it's first-come, first-serve. You'll hear by 3 PM Thursday if you've been confirmed to take part, and additional deets on meeting times & locations will be emailed to you. Hope to see you there!
