Ahead of the Blu-ray and DVD release of "End of Watch" next week, MTV News has an exclusive featurette from the disc called "Fate With a Badge."

This look behind the scenes of the latest film from "Training Day" writer David Ayer explores what the filmmaker and his lead actors, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, attempted to do with this grittier, more realistic look at the lives of cop in the LAPD.

"They're two guys who would give their lives for each other," Gyllenhaal says in the featurette about the partner relationship in "End of Watch."

"End of Watch" hits Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on January 22.
