One of the first things that may pop into your head while watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance in his directorial debut and Sundance darling "Don Jon's Addiction" is "Jersey Shore."

But when MTV News' Josh Horowitz asked about the connection to the recently concluded reality show, the "Dark Knight Rises" star pleaded ignorance.

"I had never seen Jersey Shore when I wrote it, and when I became aware of the similarities, I did watch it. Sorry, I could only get through one of them," Gordon-Levitt said. "That archetype goes back way further than 'Jersey Shore,' whether you're talking about 'Rocky' or 'Saturday Night Fever,' or Tough Tony."

Tony Danza, or Tough Tony as Gordon-Levitt refers to him, suggested that the type of macho guy doesn't just apply to Italian men, either. "It goes beyond any kind of ethnic [group]. There are plenty of these Don Juan's all over the place."

And before your imagination begins to run away with possibilities, Gordon-Levitt wants you to know that directing and acting in scenes with his co-star Scarlett Johansson is not all play and no work.

"The sex scenes that are in this movie are very, very specific, and each moment tells a particular thing in the story. So it's not like we're going at it. It's not like we're hanging out all day, making out, and they're filming it," Gordon-Levitt said. "We have to accomplish a very specific thing, and most of the time, I'm talking to the camera guys. I'm talking to the lighting guys. I'm talking to all of these different people, and then we get together, roll the cameras, kiss for five seconds, and then cut. Not to burst anyone's bubble, it's not a sexy enterprise at all."
