Both critics and audiences embraced "Mama," the Guillermo del Toro-produced ghost story with mommy issues, in a way that few horror movies have in recent years. Some of the credit undoubtedly has to go to the team that created the creature Mama, a mix of computer effects and good ol' fashioned practical work from actor Javier Botet.

An early test of the Botet's movement for the character Mama recently surfaced online (via io9), and watching it, you'll be able to appreciate just how good and inherently creepy his performance really is.

Botet, a Spanish performer who gained notoriety thanks to his work on the "[REC]" series, suffers from Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that results in elongated limbs and thin fingers. For the role of Mama, Botet uses his unique range of movement to add a surreal element to the ghost and thoroughly freak us out.

"Mama" is in theaters now, and if you like horror, you should definitely check it out.
