Sony video game "Shadow of the Colossus" is being developed into a feature, with "Chronicle" director Josh Trank signed on to the project — he also happens to be a big fan of the game.
When a young man believes his lover to be dead, he heads to a "forbidden land" to summon a demon that can wake her. In order to bring the woman back to life, however, he needs to slay 16 colossi. They're massive, "skyscraper-sized giants" that rise from the ground, fly through the air, and dwell in the water. Soon, the man questions his pursuit and wonders if he's made a deal with the devil.
Let us know if you're a fan of the video game and if you believe Trank can do the adaptation justice. In the meantime, keep on reading for more Horror Bites!
'The Apparition' Gets a Ghostly New Trailer
This August, Warner Bros. will unleash "The Apparition," and the first trailer for Todd Lincoln's paranormal tale has finally arrived. Ashley Greene ("Twilight"), Sebastian Stan ("Black Swan"), Luke Pasqualino, Julianna Guill ("Friday the 13th"), and Tom Felton ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes") star in the story about a group of students performing a parapsychology experiment who conjure a tormenting apparition that feeds on their fears. Look for the movie in theaters on August 24.
David Hasselhoff Goofs around on 'Piranha 3DD' Featurette
The Hoff appears in a new featurette promoting killer fish tale "Piranha 3DD." He sings, he romances the ladies, he runs in a slow motion montage with music. What more could we ask for? "Feast" director John Gulager directs the summer film fun starring Danielle Panabaker, Christopher Lloyd, and Ving Rhames about the terrifying descent of bloodthirsty piranha on a water park.
Abigail Breslin Gets Gory in 'Final Girl'
The adorable little girl in "Little Miss Sunshine" Abigail Breslin is all grown up and getting gory in "Final Girl." Deadline reports that the "Zombieland" actress will be working with photographer Tyler Shields — who you'll remember as the guy that shot a few recent sexy (and weird) images of Lindsay Lohan. He'll be making his directorial debut with the film about "a pack of feral teenage boys who choose the wrong girl to be the victim of their final "initiation." We can't wait to see her kick more ass. Are you feeling the "Dead Girl" vibes too?
Jessica Biel's 'The Tall Man' Arriving in Theaters This Summer
"Martyrs" director Pascal Laugier has found a home for his new horror film "The Tall Man," starring Jessica Biel. According to a fan website dedicated to the actress, the creepy kid tale will be in theaters on August 31. Biel plays a nurse and mother living in the strange town of Cold Rock. Children go missing there far too often to be coincidental, and Biel's son eventually follows suit. She never believed in urban legends, until she spies her son's kidnapper — a huge, dark figure that mysteriously evades her chase. After Biel's appearance in the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake in 2003, are you excited to see her get back to terror flicks?
'Godzilla' Remake Still Going Strong
"Monsters" director Gareth Edwards finally gave an update about his remake of the classic creature film: "It's going great, and I'm genuinely excited about it. We're just working really hard with Legendary, who have been fantastic. Thomas Tull has just been an absolute pleasure and nothing like the experience they warn you about when you go to Hollywood. I can't say much other than I hope that we'll have some proper news soon. So you won't have to wait too long at all." Bring on the monster mayhem, we say. Does Guillermo del Toro's similar homage to Japanese monster movies "Pacific Rim" have a fierce competitor here?
