You're never too old for "Lethal Weapon." Too young, sure, but never too old, even if Riggs and Murtaugh are a bit past their prime these days.
Still, you can revisit the glory days of the Mel Gibson and Danny Glover-starring action franchise with the "Lethal Weapon Collection," the new Blu-ray set that hits shelves today (May 22). We've got an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the Blu-ray all about the relationship between Riggs and Murtaugh, and why they were such a groundbreaking action duo for their time.
"The stereotype of these movies is, 'He's crazy and this one is by the book.' But that's not entirely real," writer Shane Black reveals in the clip. "Real is, I want to see the chemistry of two guys who are different but similar enough to recognize in each other qualities that they find admirable, and not just play it by the numbers and formulaically, as some of these two-handers tend to unfold: the good cop and the crazy cop."
"I thought it was interesting because it was in the action genre, and now it's become something of a cliche — the buddy cop genre — but it wasn't so much then," added Gibson. "The characters were flawed. They weren't two-dimensional superhero guys. They're flawed guys."
