"Ted," last summer's comedy hit, made over half a billion dollars at the world box office, a bona fide hit for writer, director, star, and "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, but even with all of that success, the sequel wasn't a guarantee.
It seemed that MacFarlane may have been the big hold-out on any sequel to "Ted."
But apparently, all that has been smoothed over because a new "Ted" movie is on the way.
Universal Pictures announced today that "Ted 2" will reunited MacFarlane and Wahlberg for a follow-up to the hit. MacFarlane will once again write, direct and star, alongside the "Transformers: Age of Extinction" star. MacFarlane's co-writers, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, will also return.
But when will this movie come out? This year? Next summer? Next fall?
"Ted 2" will open in theater on June 26, 2015.
