Katy Perry has never been one to hide her weaknesses from the public, and in a recent interview, the "Dark Horse" singer revealed she considered suicide after her divorce from actor Russell Brand.
In a convo with Billboard about her upcoming album PRISM, Katy described the meaning behind the lyrics of her song, "By The Grace Of God." "That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point," said the former Christian singer. "I asked myself, 'Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?'" In spite of her record-breaking success, Katy found herself laying on the bathroom floor, wondering whether or not she could go on.
It took time and therapy for Katy to get her life back on track. Now she's stronger than ever. "Obviously I've been through a lot of therapy since my last record, and that's what this is about," Katy told BBC Radio's Scott Mills about her newfound happiness and fresh, empowering sound.
Katy also found solace thanks to guy whose initials are "E.T." According to Billboard: "I was really inspired by this little six-minute thing by Eckhart Tolle where he speaks about loss," she says, referring to a video from the author of the best-selling inspirational tome The Power of Now. "When you lose something, all your foundations crumble-but that also leaves a big hole that's open for something great to come through." Breakups can be way painful, and Katy's honest revelations just go to show that there's absolutely nothing wrong with seeking professional help for heartbreak -- or anything that's bothering you.
