Tegan and Sara are known for repping pro-social issues. Now they're giving Twitter applause to Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches for standing up for women's rights.The sisters Tweeted:

Lauren wrote an article for The Guardian about the kind of sexism she faces while being in a band. When one man sent a sexually suggestive message to her, she responded by posting it on social media and saying this kind of message wasn't appropriate. While some people were supportive of Lauren and agreed that the message hadn't been okay, others attacked her.

She got comments like, "This isn't rape culture. You'll know rape culture when I'm raping you..." and "It's just one of those things you'll need to learn to deal with. If you're easily offended, then maybe the music industry isn't for you."

"Is the casual objectification of women so commonplace that we should all just suck it up, roll over and accept defeat?" Lauren wrote in her Guardian piece. "I hope not. Objectification, whatever its form, is not something anyone should have to 'just deal with.'"

She brought up the Everyday Sexism Project, founded by Laura Bates, who MTV Act recently interviewed. Speaking of the people who said such awful things to her, Lauren wrote, 'It seems almost too obvious to ask, "Would you condone this behavior if it was directed at your mother/sister/daughter/wife/girlfriend' but maybe going back to basics is what the trolls or 4chan addicts need. To learn a little empathy. To have a little respect for other people. To think before they speak."

Lauren obvi thought this all out before she said it, and we love the points she made!
